Dear Friends,
As promised, here is the second list of promoted producers affected by the February 27, 2010 earthquake and tsunami. We will continue to review the situation of the producers and workshops that have lost almost everything.

We hope you can take a moment to read through this list and browse the product links of these affected producers. Please send us your feedback and, if possible, potential orders. We deeply appreciate all of the interest, compassion and solidarity that all of you have shown in spirit of Fair Trade (Photos taken before the earthquake).

(Producer´s destroyed home in Talca, Viña Chequen, March 16, 2010)

Sergio Bustos

This workshop is located in the small town Chiguayante, close to Concepción, in one of the most impacted zones. Sergio, his family and home are safe. However, the workshop is completely destroyed but should be able to start working again in two weeks.

Jorge Aedo

Jorge´s workshop inside of this Pinto (VIII Region) home suffered great damages. His house was left in pieces and Jorge is unsure if they can still stay there. Besides this destruction, the family is safe and he can continue to work. The repairs of his workshop would cost about $1000 USD.

Juan Sáez

The workshop is located in the community of Arauco. The infrastructure of the home stands but everything inside fell to the ground and is left destroyed. They will be in conditions to return to work in approximately one week.

Beatriz Ortiz

The workshop located in San Carlos (VIII Region) suffered a few damages. Beatriz and her family are safe. The earthquake weakened the family´s house of adobe. Because the walls are standing, they could live withinthe house but its instability makes it extremely unsafe. The workshop did lose a lot of materials. All damages amount to approximately $1000 USD in repairs.

Bernarda González


The family of Bernarda is safe in Talcahuano, one of the most devastated cities after the earthquake and tsunami. The workshop took on some damages but nothing that is beyond repair. They can start working immediately and need orders to maintain their income.

Ana María Arellano

The workshop of Ana María is located in Contulmo (VIII Region). The family is safe and can return to working within the next week. The workshop suffered some damages that can be repaired. They are very concerned about maintaining their an income. Orders are essential.

Verónica Ríos

The family and the house are safe. Some structural damage to the house can be repaired but all of the finished products that are left broken are lost. Veronica and her family work with glass. They believe that they can return to producing soon and urgently need orders.

Marlyn García

The house that was the workshop of Marlyn fell to the ground and is no longer inhabitable. They are now camping outside of this area. They were able to save tools and have been lent a space to continue working. As the market no longer exists in this zone, they will be depending on orders from outside of Chile to maintain their income.

Iris Veloso

The workshop of Iris is located in the community of San Pedro de la Paz of Concepcion. This area is fairly isolated from an urban center. The family and house are safe. Their workshop and materials were the most impacted along with finished products. They need to continue working and to receive orders.

Rosa Suazo

This workshop located in Chiguayante (VIII Region) lost all finished products. Rosa´s work space is structurally safe but has lost most of its materials.

Como lo prometimos, aqui les enviamos, ahora, la segunda lista de productores afectados por el terremoto y tsunami del 27 de febrero 2010 . Podran ver los links a los prodcutos de cada uno de estos talleres. Vamos a seguir examinando la situación de los productores y los talleres que han perdido casi todo.

Esperamos que puedes tomar un momento para leer la lista y navegar por los vinculos de productos de estos productores afectados. Por favor envianos tus comentarios y, si es posible, tus pedidos potenciales. Este taller esta ubicado en localidad de Chiguayante, cerca de Concepcion, una de las zonas mas afectadas. Sus familiares y la casa estan bien. El taller quedo completamente destruido, pero puede comenzar a trabajar en un par de semanas mas.

Taller ubicado en la localidad de Pinto, VIII Region. Su casa quedo con partes derrumbadas y saben aun si van a seguir o no en su casa. Las familias estan bien. El taller estaba dentro de la casa pero aun asi, pueden trabajar. Las reparaciones de su taller seran del orden de US$ 1000 aproximadamente.

El taller estaba ubicado en la Comuna de Arauco. Todo quedo en el suelo. La infraestructura esta bien pero todo, adentro se cayo y destruyo. Estan en condiciones de volver a trabajr en una semana, aproximadamente.

La familia esta bien. El Taller sufrio algunos daños y perdio muchos materiales. Redcoponerlo significan unos US$ 1000 tambien para recuperarlo.

Estan ubicados en Talcahuano, una de las ciudades mas devastadas por el terremoto y tsunami. La familia esta bien. Tuvo daños en el taller, pero que se podrian reparar rapido. Pueden comenzar a trabajar lo antes posible, para volver a tener ingresos.

Es un taller familiar ubicado en Contulmo, VIII Region. La familia esta bien. Tiene algunos daños en el taller pero son reparables y pueden volver a trabajar en una semana aproximadamente. Estan muy preocupados por la posibilidad de volver a obtener ingresos.

La familia y la casa estan bien. La estructura esta bien, sólo que se cayo y se perdio todo lo que tenian en materiales y productos terminados. Trabajan en vidrio y todo se quebro. Creen que pueden volver a trabajar a la brevedad pues requieren volver a tener ingresos muy pronto.

Este taller ocupaba una casa, para su taller, que ahora esta inhabilitada. Estan acampando afuera de ese lugar. Las herramientas las alcanzaron a rescatar y les han prestado un lugar para seguir trabajando. Necesitan volver a tener ingresos, pues no hay venta en la zona, como ocurre con la mayoria de estos talleres.
